ASD Essentials assessment

ASD has released the Essentials series (enterprise IT, cloud and OT) as the successor to the Essential Eight. We rate each action by domain, following ASD's assessment process guide and indicators of good practice.

Your existing Essential Eight results mapped across to the Essentials actions, so earlier investment is recognised and re-verified rather than repeated.

How an engagement works

Scoping call
A confidential conversation about your environment, goals, constraints and timing. You get a tailored quote with a defined scope.

Signed authorisation
Nothing is tested until your authorised representative signs the rules of engagement, naming every in-scope target, the techniques allowed and anything excluded.

Authorised testing
Testing stays inside the signed scope. Out-of-scope addresses are refused by the platform itself, and every action is recorded in a tamper-evident log.

Reviewed findings
Each finding is risk-rated with evidence and practical remediation steps, and reviewed before it is released to you.

Fix and retest
We help your team prioritise, then retest fixed findings so you have evidence for auditors, insurers and clients.

Common questions

Is the Essential Eight being replaced?

ASD released the Essentials series in October 2026 as its successor. The two run side by side during a transition period, so assessing against both now avoids repeating work later.

Is this an ASD certification?

No. ASD does not certify organisations. Our assessments follow ASD's published guidance and give you an independent, evidence-based view of your position.
